Benefits Of Being Out In Nature

Are you feeling gloomy, tired or stressed out?

It is proven that just being outside in nature does your body, mind and soul some serious good. I’m all about being out and about in the fresh air, no matter what time of the year it is, or what conditions Mr Weatherman may throw at me. I get out there and have some fun and as a result my mental and physical health stay in check.

My favourite things to do outdoors include;

  • Walking barefoot outside in dirt, sand, grass and even thick mud

  • Hugging a tree, yes I did just say that, trees give off amazing beneficial healing energies

  • Lying flat on my back on grass - listening to the surrounding sounds of nature around me

  • All year round being knee deep in the ocean, and if I’m game, I try to get my entire body under for an amazing cleanse of energy

  • Gardening, watching new life form

7 benefits of being at one with nature include;

  • Source of Vitamin D (we need 1000mg per day)

  • Improved sleep

  • Grounding

  • Exercise

  • Inhaling clean air

  • Physiological health (improves attention and boots serotonin levels)

  • Yarra River trail 35km (there is a shorter trail there too)

  • Merrie Creek trail 21km (there is a shorter trail there too)

  • Coastal Art Trail 21km (50 artworks to see along the way to keep you entertained)

  • Sherbrooke Forest Walk 7km

  • Bushrangers Bay- clifftop walk 10km

Get outside and do some nature loving activities! It doesn’t matter if you are a diehard bushwalker, or just interested in the idea if getting out of the city for the day and being amongst nature, Melbourne is a such great place for it!
